Before You Feed
- Feed by weight—not by volume.
- Weigh the feed in the container you will be using and be sure to subtract the weight of the container.
Horses:

| Maintenance | 1/4 to 1/2 lb. |
| Light Exercise | 1/2 to 3/4 lb. |
| Medium Exercise | 3/4 to 1 lb. |
| Heavy Exercise | 1 to 1-1/4 lbs. |
| Gestating Mares | 3/4 lb. |
| Lactating Mares | 3/4 to 1-1/4 lbs. |
| Breeding Stallions | 1 lb. |
- Feed good quality pasture or hay equivalent to 1 to 1-3/4 lbs. per 100 lbs. of bodyweight.
- Use a weight tape or Body Condition Score System to monitor body condition. Adjust feeding levels to maintain desired condition.
- Cool out properly after exercise before feeding or allowing unlimited water.
Cattle:
- Feed to desired condition.
- Feed with good quality hay or pasture.
Calves and Show Cattle
- Gradually bring feeding rate to 1 to 2 lbs per 100 lbs. of bodyweight. Feed good quality hay free choice.
Dairy Cattle
- Feed 1 to 5 lbs. per head per day with good quality hay for calves over 3 months.
Lactating Cows
- Formulate lactating rations according to phase of lactation and desired production levels.
Sheep and Goats

| Kids and Small Does | 1/2 to 1-1/2 lbs. per head per day |

- Feed with good clean hay or pasture free-choice.
All Animals
- Fresh clean water should be available at all times.
- Horses that have been exercised should be cooled out and re-hydrated properly before being fed and before having access to unlimited water.
- Salt should be available free-choice.
